Welcome to the
Higher Ground Podcast.
Finding hope above the headlines.
We’re looking for the higher ground.
We’re not saying we’ve found it - but we are looking.
In these fractious times, it’s easy to get lost in the foothills of culture war echo-chambers. Ascend the hill, and you get a different perspective: out to the world around us, back to the past that shaped us, and ahead to an uncertain future. We’re people of faith, so we also want to look up, asking what wisdom our Christian traditions might have for this moment.
Join Tim Dixon (More In Common), Laura Anderson (Less Waste Laura) and Dr Krish Kandiah (Sanctuary Foundation) for a compassionate exploration of the times we’re living in - and to find some hope above the headlines.
Higher Ground: Meet the Team
-
Krish is the founder of Sanctuary Foundation, a charity supporting refugees to find welcome, work and worthwhile housing in the UK. Prior to this, he also set up and directed Home For Good, an award-winning movement helping find homes for vulnerable children and young people.
Krish is a regular advisor to government, and from 2019-2021 was appointed by the Secretary of State for Education as the Chair of the Adoption and Special Guardianship Leadership Board (2019-2021). In this role he brought strategic leadership to the finding of permanent loving families for children in the care system.
Krish holds a PhD in Theology from the London School of Theology. He is a regular contributor on GB News, BBC Radio and various other outlets.

Laura is an award-winning climate activist, environmental scientist, and ethical influencer. She holds an MSc in Environmental Protection and Management and is pursuing a PhD in Climate Resilience and Community Engagement.
Known by many as @LessWasteLaura, Laura helps lead a growing community of environmental activists across Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, LinkedIn, BlueSky, and YouTube. Her most recent campaign brought together a wide coalition of health, nature and local high street groups to ban disposable vapes, protecting young people and the environment all at once.
She was named in The King’s Foundation’s 35 under 35 network, and was awarded the Scottish Influencer of the Year for 2024/5 for her work.
-
Tim is the co-founder and CEO of More in Common, an international organisation working to counter polarisation and strengthen divided societies across the US, UK, France, Germany, and beyond.
An Australian by birth, he trained as an economist, worked as a tech sector lawyer, and built a leading educational publishing business acquired by Pearson Australia. He then served as chief speechwriter and senior economic adviser to Prime Ministers Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard.
More in Common works to combat polarisation and unite divided societies through over 60 partnerships with local, national, and international institutions.

Krish confesses his obsession with the news, and shares how he’s trying to step back more often to refresh his mind’s eye.
